Solar-Ready Roofing: Why it’s important to prepare the right way

Published by Joel Bell on September 27, 2022

The need for solar-ready roofing systems has always been there. Our clients understand the value of solar at their commercial properties, but still hesitate. This comes from the fear of not knowing how to best integrate solar with their roofing. However, with our Solar-Ready Roof solution, our team at White Hat Industrial can remove that obstacle.

Our Solar-Ready Roof Solution

We know it’s critical to integrate solar solutions with the correct mounting systems. This is ties roof and solar warranties together and can have long-term ramifications. With the mounting systems we use, our clients can enjoy an integrated long-term solution. They also provide them with the highest solar impact and convenient roof access in the future.

Why is integrated mounting critical for long-term investment?

Usually, Ballast anchoring is the most used option to put up solar and is the fastest and cheapest option for Solar Installers. Despite this, Ballast anchoring is the worst anchor option for the future of the roof. This is because once this type of mounting is installed, there is no access available to the roof itself. Essentially, a Ballast Solar System needs to be completely dismantled and removed from the roof in order for access or restoration.

That’s why we know Solar systems anchored with integrated mounting are superior solutions because they provide easy access to the roof. There is also no removal required to service or restore the roof. The best and most cost-effective time to install a solar-ready mounting system is when the roof is being restored. Understanding all of this is critical for our clients because we want them to make the right solar and mounting investment for their future.

Fundamentals of Roof Restoration

If you’re unfamiliar with roof restoration and its fundamentals, here are some important things to note:

  • With roof restoration, you can maximize the value of your existing roof system, rather than removing it and disposing of it in a landfill.
  • Restoration allows for you to repair and reinforce areas with leak history, all seams, pipes and rooftop equipment penetrations.
  • By using restoration, you can Install a seamless Fluid Applied Roof System to your entire roof – that restores the foundation to top performance.
